After having read about, and drooled over, recipes from the Ottolenghi cookbooks on various of my favourite blogs I finally ordered a copy of their first book from The Book Depository and it arrived last week. This is the first recipe I have made from the book and it was utterly delicious.

Some of you may remember a post I did on the CSIRO diet and cook books a little while back. Now that spring is here I’ve remembered my number one dish from this book and one that I’ve returned to many times. This was the last thing I made using my oven before we started camp cooking while waiting for the new kitchen to be installed (seems like a distant memory now but was actually only a few weeks ago).

When spring comes around I am put in mind of a little rhyme that my Dad taught me when I was little. I thought it was hilarious and would repeat it ad nauseum. I recited it to my little one yesterday and she obviously also has the sophisticated sense of humour I possessed at her age…
Spring is sprung, the grass is riz. I wonder where the birdies is? Some say the bird is on the wing, but that’s absurd! The wing is on the bird 🙂

Third birthday party

It was a bit last minute as we weren’t going to have a party for Lola’s 3rd birthday due to kitchen renovations taking over our house and lives at the moment. However I had mother guilt at 4 in the morning just before her birthday so I hastily invited the extended family over for cake and bubbles in the afternoon of the Monday public holiday.

I’m so lucky! Can you believe that in the same weekend that we were treated with so many delectable goodies at Lucy’s I was also spoiled rotten by another fabulous friend?
