I love food. I love to cook. I love sharing both with friends and family. I love poring over cookbooks, planning family meals, dinner parties, long brunches, food for camping and picnics – you name it. Food and cooking are a big part of my life. I’m not a trained cook and I don’t profess to be an expert but I love to cook and I get a big kick out of good food.
With this blog I intend to explore my love of food in a very local way – I’m interested in growing vegetables (I have a spasmodically-attended-to veggie patch); featuring the fresh, home-made and artisan bits I love best about the various South Australian food markets (Central and Farmers) – and talking to the producers and sellers; opining on where to get a really good coffee; visiting local (and not so local) cafes and the occaisonal restaurant; talking about what I’m cooking (and maybe the odd bit about my little girl’s first forays into the kitchen); talking about what my lovely friends are cooking (especially what they are cooking for me to share); taking a look through the latest cookbooks I’ve acquired (plus my old faves); and hopefully hearing your thoughts on the same to create a space where we can share the love of food.
Family members who get a regular mention are Elvin (my partner and often my photographer), Jeanette (aka my Mum and food hero), Lola (my 2.5 yo daughter).
[By the way I can’t add an alt tag to the picture in my header so I thought I’d explain here that it’s a shot taken over the heads of young zucchini plants in my veggie garden. It only infrequently looks this well loved but I keep the image here to inspire me to grow more – there’s nothing like picking your own veggies.]
